Cardiovascular Epidemiology

Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. The overall objective of the cardiovascular epidemiology course is to produce epidemiologists and other health scientists with the essential knowledge to carry out high quality research in cardiovascular disease.

At the conclusion of the course, participants will have developed:

• An understanding of the nature of cardiovascular disease, its different manifestations, disease burden and temporal trends, and the risk factors;

• An ability to identify the knowledge gaps in cardiovascular research;

• Perspectives on advancing prevention of cardiovascular disease in primary and secondary health care settings.
